Beginning takes first priority; they excite us like none other. Luckily, the parents knew it was going to be a girl and wanted shades of pink. They said they didn't want the baby to sleep by herself for the initial first year and she would only sleep here after becoming a toddler, so a Crib was not desired. We planned the room to give the child more space for when she was awake and needed to bathe, play, nap or simply enjoy the lovely winter sunlight.
The bed was designed keeping in mind that she would use it for at least till she reached the age of five years or more. They wanted to keep the handcrafted bed as an heirloom piece for future use. We promised that we would keep making as many changes as they wanted, whether as parents or as grandparents. The fabric for the canopy and sides was hand painted by the glowing mother as she waited for the arrival day. Cushioned back and front fabric was soft and bright. Storage was added below the bed for easy access and space for bedtime storybooks. We took the picture before dispatch, note the pillow and green sheet. Wabi Sabi.
