The Art of Imperfection: A Wabi Sabi-Inspired Lobby Lounge

I wanted to share the design philosophy behind the new pastel lobby lounge, inspired by the Japanese concept of "Wabi Sabi"—finding beauty in imperfection.

This space is designed to be the heart of the household. Much like a traditional Indian "chaupal," it serves as a central gathering point where the family connects and friends are welcomed. It is a functional area where the elderly can feel a sense of oversight and comfort, and where guests or deliveries can be managed efficiently before moving to private rooms.

The aesthetic features a teal refurbished chest, a sky-blue accent wall, and powder-blue chairs, all set against white door frames to create a calming atmosphere with clear, linear paths for easy movement.

In the spirit of Wabi Sabi, I invite you to find the intentional imperfection within the space. If it isn't immediately apparent, look toward the two lines of the glass partition.
